Everything about spring feels great. It’s fresh and hopeful, you’ve got flowers blooming and the weathers warming up. Even the days are getting longer.
It’s almost like nature is giving you the perfect backdrop for your wedding.
I’ve helped plan and be a part of a few spring weddings and what I love most is how much variety the season offers. You can go for full garden party with pastel florals everywhere, lean into a more minimalist feel with cherry blossoms and clean lines or embrace a bohemian look with wildflowers and flowing fabrics. Spring will work with basically any style you can dream up.
With spring you get the best of everything. The weather is usually gorgeous (warm but not too hot), seasonal flowers are everywhere and generally cheaper than you’d think, and you have tons of outdoor venue options without the bugs and humidity of summer or the unpredictability of fall.
But spring weddings do need some different thinking. You have to have a backup plan for rain (April showers are a big thing), you want to take advantage of seasonal flowers before the prices go up in the summer and you should think about how to make your wedding feel distinctly spring without being Easter themed or too cute.
So you might be planning a garden ceremony, a vineyard reception or an elegant ballroom celebration, these spring wedding theme ideas will work.
Spring Wedding Color Palettes
01 of 70
Soft Pastels: Blush, Lavender and Mint
Classic spring colors that feel romantic and timeless. A friend of mine had a wedding last April and she used this palette for her garden wedding. The photos looked like something out of a fairytale. Blush bridesmaid dresses, lavender florals and mint table runners created this dreamy look.
02 of 70
Bold and Bright: Coral, Yellow and Fuchsia
If pastels aren’t your thing go for something a bit bolder instead. Bright spring colors feel energetic and fun without being too overwhelming. The likes of coral peonies, yellow tulips and fuchsia accent details are what you should be going for. They work especially well for daytime weddings outdoors.
03 of 70
Garden Fresh: Green, White and Cream
Lots of lush greenery with white and cream florals makes a botanical aesthetic tha feels organic. This is very popular right now and super versatile too – it works for both formal and casual spring weddings. Plus greenery is usually cheaper than lots of flowers.
04 of 70
Cherry Blossom Inspired: Pink, White and Gold
Soft pink paired with white and metallic gold accents feels elegant and distinctly spring. The pink doesn’t have to be literal cherry blossoms (though those are stunning if you can get them) – any blush or light pink flowers work beautifully.
05 of 70
Wildflower Meadow: Mix of Purples, Yellows and Blues
For a more bohemian spring vibe use wildflower inspired colors. So lavender, sunflower yellow, cornflower blue and pops of white will all look great. It feels almost whimsical and is perfect for weddings held in fields or outdoor barns.
Spring Florals and Bouquets
06 of 70
Peony-Heavy Bridal Bouquet
Peonies are peak season in late spring and they’re absolutely gorgeous. A bouquet that’s mostly peonies (in white, blush or coral) with some greenery has a luxurious and romantic feel to it. But be warned – they’re expensive but worth it if peonies are your dream flower.
07 of 70
Tulip Bouquets in Bright Colors
Tulips are everywhere in the early to mid spring and come in every color imaginable. I remember gong to a wedding in May and the bride had used all yellow tulips for her bouquet and it was stunning – simple, cheerful and very spring like. Tulips are also relatively cheap when compared to the likes of roses or peonies.
08 of 70
Cherry Blossom Branches
If you’re getting married when cherry blossoms are blooming (that’s usually March to early April depending on where you are) use the branches in your ceremony décor or bouquet. They’re delicate, beautiful and associated heavily with spring.

Making Your Spring Wedding Theme Work
The thing to do with a spring wedding is rather than fighting the season, embrace it. Spring is already giving you gorgeous weather, lovely flowers and longer days – you can use all of that to your advantage instead of trying to make something that works against it.
The most successful spring weddings I’ve planned and been to are the ones where couples went along with what makes spring special. They used seasonal flowers (which are everywhere and more affordable), they planned outdoor ceremonies to take advantage of the weather and they chose color palettes that felt fresh and appropriate for the season.
One thing to keep in mind though – you will need a backup plan for rain. Spring weather can be unpredictable.
So have a tent on standby or choose a venue with that has ann indoor option you like. Don’t just cross your fingers and hope for the best. The couples who plan for rain and don’t need it are way happier than the ones who didn’t plan and got caught in a downpour.
And remember, spring weddings should feel light and fresh, not heavy. Choose flowing fabrics, lots of white and pastels, natural materials and let the season’s natural beauty do a lot of the work for you. You don’t need décor that’s crazy and over the top when you’re surrounded by flowering gardens and perfect weather.
Start with one or two spring elements you’re excited about – maybe it’s cherry blossom branches or a garden venue or a specific pastel color palette – and go from there. The vision will come together naturally, and you’ll end up with a wedding that feels like the best version of spring itself.
